Frequently asked questions
What people usually ask
Clear answers to the most common questions about the platform — no small print.
What is Dentista Angola?
Dentista Angola is a platform for information and guidance on oral health in Angola. It helps patients find verified dentists, book appointments, and receive care tips. It is NOT a clinic and does NOT replace an in-person consultation.
Is it free?
Searching dentists, the emergency guide, and the glossary are free. The Paciente Lite tier will be available from 500 kwanzas per month — for those who want to book more appointments and receive SMS reminders. Professionals will have their own plans.
How do you make money?
Dentists and clinics pay to highlight their profile and receive patient enquiries. Patients only pay if they want to upgrade from the free tier to Paciente Lite or Paciente+.
Who is behind the platform?
Dentista Angola was founded by Alexandra, a final-year Dental Medicine student in Luanda. The team is small, split between Luanda and Lisbon, and focused on building a reliable platform before scaling.
How do I find a dentist?
Create a free account, set your province and the specialty you need, and the platform shows the available verified professionals. You can contact them directly or request an appointment.
Does the platform book the appointment for me?
No. The platform sends the request to your chosen dentist; the dentist confirms the appointment with you by phone or through the platform. The final decision is always yours and the professional’s.
Is my data protected?
Yes. We process personal data in line with Law no. 22/11 of 17 June (Angola) — including rights of access, rectification, and erasure. Data is hosted on servers in the European Union, encrypted at rest. See the privacy policy for details.
I am under 18 — can I use it?
No. The service is for users aged 18 and over. For minors, written consent from a parent or legal guardian is required. This verification will be added before any minor sign-up is enabled.
How do I register as a professional?
Create a professional account, submit your Angolan Medical Order (OMA) number — or equivalent professional proof — and wait for verification. The team replies within 48 business hours.
What documents do I need?
A valid ID document and proof of OMA registration (or equivalent). PDF, JPG, or PNG up to 5 MB. The documents are seen only by the team, encrypted at rest, and used exclusively to confirm the credential.
Is there a fee to register a profile?
No. The basic professional profile is free forever. Paid plans (Verified Dentist, Clinic Plus) add features — schedule, analytics, multiple dentists — and become available once the payment integration is complete.
Does the platform handle emergencies?
NO. In case of an emergency (uncontrolled bleeding, severe pain, trauma), call 112 or go to the nearest hospital. The platform offers a first-step guide but does NOT substitute immediate medical care.
Does the 112 emergency line see this platform?
No. 112 is an independent public line. The platform is an information and guidance source that can help you decide whether to go to hospital, but communication with 112 is done directly by phone.
What data do you collect?
Only what is necessary: name, phone, email, province, and (optionally) symptoms you describe when searching for a dentist. We do NOT collect clinical history or sensitive health data in Wave 1.
Do you sell or share my data?
Never. We do NOT sell data. Dentists receive information about you only when you initiate the contact — and even then, only what is strictly necessary (name, contact, symptoms you have chosen to share).
How do I delete my account?
At any time. Sign in, go to Settings > Account > Delete account. Deletion is definitive and removes all your data within 30 days. You can also send the request to suporte@dentistangola.com.
